Event Safety Coordinator

A safety officer not only helps to ensure the implementation of all safety measures but also coordinates the security staff. This „outsider“ position allows for early reaction to unforeseen events and the initiation of necessary measures. Through this work, a safety officer relieves the burden on organisers and/or operators.

Every organiser can create their own safety concepts. Please note, however, that a risk assessment and the individual allocation of available resources require adequate training and corresponding experience. Methodical and statistical knowledge are also necessary. If you cannot demonstrate these prerequisites, the likelihood of a poor safety concept increases, and with it, liability in the event of damage.

As an organiser, you should also have a safety concept drawn up, even without an order from the authorities. The reason for this is that careful documentation of all measures and the entire planning significantly reduces liability in the event of damage.

The risks that security concepts focus on are individually tailored to the event and determined based on methodological and statistical values. The significance of terrorism is therefore dependent on the individual case and whether other risks are rated higher. For example: In the past 20 years, more people have died in Germany due to misguided crowd flows than from terrorist attacks. For corresponding events, crowd management would therefore have a higher priority.
